Frequently Asked Questions
About MMR Fiber
What is MMR Fiber Solutions?
MMR Fiber Solutions is a dedicated team of professions tasked to construct and operate an open-access private network offering wholesale, point-to-point high-capacity fiber infastrcutre to empower organizations to light and manage their own private long-haul networks. MMR Fiber will connect carriers, service providers, hyperscalers and others in Albuquerque, Tucson and Phoenix, and El Paso.
Who is behind MMR Fiber?
Since 1991, MMR Constructors has been building more than projects—it’s been building trust, relationships, and a reputation of excellence. MMR has grown into the largest open-shop electrical and instrumentational contractor in the US. With 30 offices across North America and +10,000 employees, MMR thrives on building complex projects throughout the world. Since inception, MMR has demonstrated competency across broad sectors, completing project on schedule and within a structure budget.
What is the timeline of this project?
The route is under construction and will be operational by 2027.
Dark Fiber Technology
What is dark fiber?
MMR Fiber will provide dark fiber—unused, high-capacity fiber-optic cable that allows organizations to light and manage their own private networks with maximum speed, control, and security.
Interconnection
What are meet points?
MMR Fiber will have two types of meet points. Our colocation huts will be powered, climate controlled, telecom-grade facilities with battery and generator backup, access control, secured collation space for tenant equipment and diverse fiber entrances. The other meet point type will be passive interconnection points in the field which will consist of fiber vaults designed to accommodate fiber connections in the field where we do not yet foresee the need for a powered facility, but do recognize an opportunity to interface with a nearby network.
Can MMR Fiber accommodate custom routes or laterals to specific facilities?
MMR Fiber will have meet points and 12 regen sites of fiber vaults along the route designed to accommodate fiber connections for new networks should the opportunity arise. MMR Fiber is currently in the planning process allowing for potential prospects to be part of the design process to accomodate their needs.
